Double Sided Quilts

Now this is pure genius. Why should a quilt only be beautiful on one side? This wonderful quilt was a garage sale gift to me from my mother. It is everything you would want from a fabulous vintage quilt, and it only has one rip in it. Overall the condition is great.

Normally I don't really like crazy quilts. I think it is because they are generally very dark colors with lots of dark applique. These colors inspire me everyday. Robins egg blue, mixed in with all these unexpected colors like orange.

Sorry so many photos here. But just a few wouldn't justify how charming she is.

See what I mean?

I love the middle fabric in this piece. It looks like little Chinese lanterns.

I made this pillow cover last week for my giant pillow. It looks alright, but I intended it a little different. I accidentally sewed it in. I wanted there to be ruffles. Whoopsies.

What a gorgeous quilt. Great find. I love all the colors and fabrics together.

In one of the pictures, if I look closely, I see a fabric that looks like it's a dark brown with little poodles all over it? LOVE IT!!!!

Thanks for the quiliting tips! I agree, quilts should be pretty on both sides. Which is why I need to find some good fabric to put on the underside of my quilt!

It's unusual to see a crazy quilt with 1930's fabrics. Usually they are so dark and victorian!

This is one of the most wonderful quilts I have ever seen. It is an inspiration to return to quilting. I have not done that for so many years. I used to love to do 2" x 2" quilts. I would create the design with diff colors. I also sewed them entirely by hand. May just have to do one again. Thank your for inspiring me. Remains to be seen if I do it.

I found your blog through being on Creative Everyday also.
