I hope you fail?

Yup, it just feels so weird writing that. I found this little quote from Laird Hamilton and it makes me feel pretty damned good about trying my hand at some things lately that I am not quite the best at.

"We are each our own greatest inhibitor. People don't want to do new things if they think they're going to be bad at them or people are going to laugh at them.

You have to be willing to subject yourself to failure, to be bad, to fall on your head and do it again, and try stuff that you've never done in order to be the best you can be... In the end if you're still just there, doing it, you win."
So...I hope you fail a little.

Wow that's great! P.S. Laird ( and his family ) lives right down the street from me here in Malibu. I know he and his wife since before we moved here. Great people.

Ain't it the truth! My common threads block this month is a good example. Definitely trying something I've never attempted before...and struggling.

This is such a great photograph, I love the light! And the quote is nice, too - who ever said that failure is a bad thing?

This is great and then I read Jacquie's comment above and it got even better. Because that's how I feel about my square. But I'm glad I tried something different.
Thanks for this!!

Failure is just like beauty all in the eye of the beholder. I believe the only time we ever really fail is if we miss the opportunity to learn. The last paragraph of your post refers to determination. With out determination we can not succeed and with out failure we can not appreciate our success.
