What August brings

August brings us treehouses and my quilt block month for the Common Threads Quilt Bee. So I get to choose what sort of block everyone will be making. I also send out the fabric.

I was so inspired by Made in a Treehouse's cute treehouse block that I decided to go treehouse crazy. (this one is Made in a Treehouse's block)

I displayed some killer flickr inspiration.

Treehouse

And now get to sit back and wait and see what this creative group of ladies dream up. I will be showing some treehouse block of my own soon too!

Welcome back, stranger! :-)

Great inspiration block. Is that a strip of green cord at the bottom? Good use of texture.

Can't wait to see what you and all your fellow quilt-blockers come up with!

I have always wanted a proper tree house. I may still build one some day. Meanwhile, a quilt block would be good!

I love your block! I am in love with the "sky" fabric!
I have a little cabin in the mountains that was built in the 1920s. There is a screened in porch where people sit most of the time when they visit. Right next to the porch is a tree and a tree house that the parents built (They are the last family that owned it before us). They built it there so they could keep a eye on the kids while they played. The kids hated this. To prove this I have a photo of the kids in the tree house looking very grump. These little kids then try to build there own tree house. All the is left is a piece a wood, dangling by a nail, hanging on a tree.
One of the kids, who is now 69 yrs old, told me the story and how angry he was of his folks putting that tree house next to the porch.
Sorry this is so long, I'm just rambling.

How exciting! I love your treehouse inspiration -- the ones you put together are just divine. My secret dream is to live in a full-time tree house...I lived in this cottage once in the hills, and I pretended it was a treehouse because I had to climb up a ladder to get to the second floor...but I don't think the pretending makes it reality, alas.

Fantastic blog! I can't wait to see your next creation :)
