I will be leaving tomorrow for San Francisco. I'll see everyone (online that is) when I get back. In the mean time here are some small little things from my life.
This ceramic duck reminds me of one that I saw on Doe-C-Doe's blog.
My mom found this for me. There may be another name for it, but I call it an inked embroidery pattern. Vintage of course.
I find 10-cent designer's work so fun that I thought I would try one of my own.
See Adam's lost his head.
His dad gave him his old bowling ball.
I tell you though- I am worried sick about leaving Misty. My friend has nicely offered to watch her for the week. This will save us a bunch of money as kenneling her is around $30 a day- with an extra $5 to walk her. Lucky our cat will be kenneled at the vet.
You see Misty is an expert escape artist.
When we first got her at the shelter they told us she couldn't be off leash. This is because while she was at the shelter she climbed her fenced in area one night (well over 12 feet with a teeny gap at the top) to be with the dog next to her. Yup they found her sleeping next to the other dog. She is that sweet.
Once we left her in Adam's truck and the next thing we know there she is standing there next to us. She pushed open the sliding back window and jumped out.
We have taught her to stay close while we hike in the woods- but she still sometimes refuses to listen. Once on one of our hikes near Mt. Whiteface she decided to keep going. We ran around the top of the mountain for twenty minutes frantically looking for her. She was walking back down with another family.
So I am worried sick. I mean really worried. I really can picture her being let outside and running away, or walking in the woods and taking off, her maybe scratching one of my friend's daughters (Misty is still puppish), or chewing something important or peeing somewhere inside because she never barks to be let out (she is super quiet).
Two of our other pets died in the past six months and I don't think I could lose another. Not her. Keep your fingers crossed for her please.

FINGERS CROSSED!!!!
She has the cutest little face.
Have a great time in San Fran. Can't wait to see your photos when you return! (Have you narrowed down what you're shooting, or just seeing what happens when you get there?)
fingers crossed!
i totally know how you feel too, when Franki (my baby girl poodle/beagle mix) was little, sometimes i would just wake up in the middle of the night to make sure she was still breathing. so now a couple times a night she'll lick my cheek to make sure i know she's okay.
i love my pets.
have fun in San Fran! I'm totally jealous :)
Trip to San Fran = good.
Red Sox hat in photo = good.
Missing pets = not good.
Have a great time on your trip. The pets will be fine!

Misty is stunningly beautiful. I am sure she will be happily waiting for you, tail wagging, upon your return.
Have a great trip and eat a mission style burrito for me, will ya!
What a cutie!
We have the same issue with our little guy....it's hard to trust anyone else with him.
Ah, dogs, our faithful companions and truest of friends! She seems like a sweetheart, I'm sure she will be on her best behavior while you are gone:)
Have fun in SF, and make sure you go by Ghirardelli square! Can't forget the chocolate after all.
I have my own escape artist. One time he got off his leash (with my husband by the way)and decided to go runing around one of the busiest parts of Manhattan. Cabs were slamming on their breaks, buses screaching to a halt and finally, by chance he decided to run back to my husband and give him a big kiss. He now wears two collars (for extra protection-yes, a little over the top but I don't care) and we have taken up jogging for his exersize. I'm sure your friends knows to be extra careful with her. She's very cute! Have a great trip.
bless you for finding someone who will come in to care for her. I'm sure this will work out well. Enjoy that trip.

I have my fingers AND my toes crossed for you and Misty. Have a great trip. Looking forward to hearing all about it!
I have always worried myself sick every time I leave our dogs. So I will definitely send little prayers up for Misty. Most likely she will be just fine, just as ours always are when we leave them. Doesn't keep me from worrying the very next time, though. They are so precious to us!
Rick and I figured out one time that a big difference between having dogs and kids is that people with kids LIKE vacations without them.
By the way, I have been pleased to experience the other side of dog sitting. I sometimes care for my SIL's dogs when she is away, and she is just as crazy-worrying as we are, and I know she doesn't believe me when I tell her the dogs are fine, and after the first day or so, seem to be perfectly happy with me and not missing her at all. I never believed that about my dogs, either. But it's true!
try not to worry...enjoy your time in san fran! i'm sure misty and kitty will be a-ok but will keep my fingers crossed anyway! "see" ya when you get back! i look forward to lots of interesting posts about finds & photos!
Oh, I hope she is okay without you! She looks like such a darling dog!
love that vintage embroidery pattern too :)
My fingers are crossed for Misty. I know what it's like - I used to worry about our dog in the same way (now she stays at my sister's which is her 'second home' so I know she will stay put). I hope you still enjoy your time away.
I always worry when we leave our animals too so I know how you feel. I will keep my fingers crossed and send mental commands to Misty to be a good girl for you while you're away!
Hope you have a wonderful vacation, can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!
p.s. cute duck & awesome find by your mom!
I'm sending positive thoughts your way for your sweet Misty!
Hey there! Such a sweet dog! I love her sweet innocent look.
