I expected that I would have less time due to school and work and sure enough I have. I love it most days. I have been dreaming of going to grad school for a long time now. Some days though, I feel pretty run down and stressed worrying about how I have no time.
Last night, I managed to quilt some more squares. I now have 16 quilted squares. I have 5 other squares sewn together but not quilted. So maybe tonight, if I get let out early. Then I will just have 4 more to make and quilt. Then I have to keep my fingers crossed that sewing them together after I have quilted them will work.
I can't wait to wrap this last quilt up. I have several more ideas swarming around in my head and I can't wait to start them.
- I did get my prints back from Adorama and they came out okay. I am still struggling a little bit, getting just the right amount of black border on these square ones. I think it mainly is me cropping them all weird to begin with. I really need to find a nice way to matte them. In the past I have used my own bristol board and that words alright. Anyone have any tips? It is a little challenging finding the right type of frame since these are square.
- I am very in love with the boxes e.soule has her little zoo on. If I could figure something out like that for my square prints that would rock. Not sure were to get the wood frames though, or much about archival papers and such....
- So I should have some quilting to show you next week. I really hope to have started my Alabama Stitch swap project too. And I really would love to work on some more fabric printing (this is one of my favorite things lately, but hard to find the time for, because it takes a lot of set up and clean up time with the paint and all.)
- Oh, yes big yard sales this weekend. Can't wait. I am still on the hunt for a decent modern looking couch (good luck right?), fabric, linen dresses and skirts (for fabric of course!), and small things to take photos of.....

Beautiful pics...great way to start my day :)
Not sure how big your prints are or what your budget is, but Target has (or at least had the last time I looked) some 12"x12" frames in black or white. But if you're planning on framing a bunch of them, it'll get pricey pretty quickly.
Another thought is to use a rectangle frame (which are easier to come by, and therefore you'd have a selection of cheaper options) and just cut the matte with a square opening.
This isn't the best example, but it gives you an idea of what I'm talking about: http://www.gabrielesoho.com/images/print001.jpg
If you place the opening just a little higher than the middle, it'll look great.
Good luck!
Love that photo. I was in a local coffee shop the other day and the owner, Courtney, went to the art institute here in KC and had decorated one whole wall with some of her photos. They were mounted on squares of I think birch plywood. They were stunning, very clean and modern. I could ask her more about how she did it and maybe take a pic or two of them if you might be interested. Seems like an inexpensive way to show of photos in a really modern way.
Loving your photos!
Don't stress about the time issues. Just realize that you have a finite amount of time and energy, and let non-essential things go. (I can give advice better than I take it.)
Just think of grad school as your latest creative project. When I get super busy I always remind myself that I have my whole life to accomplish all my goals, not just the next year or two. Always gives me a bit of perspective when I'm itching to quilt and everyone is sick or I have a billion things to do that are more vital.
Also I think you got a word wrong: loathesome = you totally despise it.
I hope your craft swap goes well.
Did you know you can make your own photo matts. I do this for my competition photos. You should be able to buy the matt board at any good craft supply shop. It comes in all different sizes and colours. Using a Stanley knife cut the out side of the matt to the size of the fame. Then measure the matt to find the centre of the matt. Measure you photo size and rule in pencil the size of you photo on the back of the matt board and ensue it is centred. Ensure the hole you cut in the matt is approx 1/4inch smaller on each side than the actual photo (so the hole is not to big and the photo doesn’t falls through) You can cut the hole out with either a matt cutter if you want a bevelled edge (buy at craft store) or if you don’t mind a straight edge you could do it with the Stanley knife. If you do it this way you can buy any sized frame for any photo and make the matt board to fit around it.
******Oh you can also buy adhesive spray if you think cutting is too difficult. You can buy the matt board cut the outside to the size of your frame and stick the photo on using the adhesive spray.
If you need any more advice let me know.
I LOVE the photos on birchwood idea. I think that would be so organically stunning and great for the pictures of flowers you photograph.
props to you for going to grad school - i want to do it too, but i still don't know what i want to be when i grow up ;)
Good luck and hang in there, i still adore your blog and look forward to every new post.
Hey there! Are you planning on selling your prints? I've been keeping an eye out, as I've decided my inspiration board needs one of your gorgeous photos pinned to it. I could even see them as beautiful ACEOs. They are just so lovely - they make me feel all swirly and nostalgic :)
I'm loving your photos!!! :)
Thanks for the encouragement on my blog. I truly appreciate it!!
